MEET THE ARTISTS

Sheryl Woodhouse-Keese, founder/president, a native of Chicago, studied music and sociology in New Orleans before spending 6 years as a naturalist and historical interpreter in Wyoming, Michigan, Montana, Nevada and Arkansas. On the suggestion of a friend, she began making paper in Montana to complement her calligraphy and avid letter writing. As an environmentalist, she welcomed a way to do her part in reducing the endless stream of waste pouring into our landfills. (All of Twisted Limb's paper is 100% recycled.)

Sheryl began Twisted Limb Paperworks in 1998 after moving to Bloomington, Indiana, ending a 21 year sabbatical from the paper business. She began her career at age 9, selling handmade stationery surprise packages to her sisters for 5 cents each. Though her prices have had to change over the years, Sheryl's love of paper has not.

Winter finds Sheryl playing classical piano and practicing yoga. Her summers are spent maintaining a garden and hiking trails and planning a fall vacation.  She and her husband, Brian, enjoy dancing and various outdoor pursuits together.

Sheryl manages the business, maintains the website and catalog, designs product, and calligraphies the invitation envelopes.

Nancy Fribley, office manager, loves to garden, bird watch, hike and travel. She also enjoys experimenting with new designs on her loom or spending time in her mosaic workshop. Nancy does an incredible job of taking care of our customers from the time they request samples, through the ordering process, to the shipping of their paper and invitations. She keeps the office and books well organized, and does a little bit of everything else.

Dana Teel, designer, graduated from Indiana University in 2005 with a BFA in metalsmithing and jewelry design and a BA in Art History. Dana loves to travel, hike, and spend time with her pets Isabelle and Gingerbread. She also enjoys photography and playing pool. Dana very artfully transforms text into beautiful invitations, and enjoys working closely with our customers to make sure their designs are just right!

Kara Blickensdorf, office and studio assistant, graduated from Indiana University in 1994 with a BA in Sociology and a minor in Fine Arts. Kara's employment background includes marketing, market research and management. She loves to be creative, and enjoys crafts and hobbies. Kara also enjoys the outdoors, cooking, and spending time with family. Kara is a multi-tasking pro, and it is likely that she will take your order and make it too!

Brian Keese, operations manager, has been with Twisted Limb from the start, his rustic furniture even inspiring the name for the business. He made Sheryl’s very first mold and deckle, and since, has built and repaired almost every piece of equipment in the business, including its water recycling system and with his father-in-law, the studio building itself! Brian keeps everything--computers, equipment, and the studio building repaired and in top working order. His other life involves programming computers, two rental properties, altering his cars to run on used vegetable oil, two cats named Spaz and Desi, and endless home improvement projects on their log cabin.

Matt Groves, studio manager, is originally from St. Louis, Missouri. He is studying for a Ph.D. in music theory at Indiana University. In his spare time, he does origami and plays piano. Matt thoughtfully manages and participates in all stages of the creation of your paper and invitations, has an amazing eye for detail, and is always finding ways to improve our paper and exceed its reputation.

Sequoia Buck, studio assistant, is in the 7th year of her "Indiana Period." She hails from the San Francisco Bay area and considers herself an old hippie. She is a trained photographer and also a muralist, dream painter and jeweler. Sequoia lives close to the land--practices permaculture and loves all art forms that included recycling--for this is transformation.  Her website is www.toadshadeimagery.com.  Sequoia brings 25 years of hand papermaking experience to the Twisted Limb studio, where she works with Matt to create your paper and invitations.

Eldeana Shrum, flower and inclusions prep, works for Twisted Limb through Stone Belt and Options for Better Living. Eldeana loves arts and crafts, drawing, crocheting, knitting, and creating anything and everything out of scraps of material. She has one calico cat named Kelly.
